- I made a lifetime commitment (some say a "passion") to practice Okinawa Goju Ryu karate-do. I began training in 1977 (at Chuck Merriman's Karate International in New London, Connecticut), and I remain a student of Merriman Sensei to this day. I currently have a small dojo at the GSA Central Office Fitness Center, where I train during my lunch break at work -- most days with a handful of dedicated students. Outside of the dojo (and away from work), I am actively involved in the activities of both of my kids, Riki and Payton, and I enjoy bringing them to their sports, school and social activities.
